The Women's Board of the American Cancer Society, Pennsylvania Division, created the
Holiday Card Program in 1987. The idea was to produce original Philadelphia scenes by a local artist
for the benefit of the American Cancer Society. To date we have given over $2,224,678 to benefit American Cancer Society's mission of research, education, advocacy, and service
We are a group of volunteers who work out of an office building in King of Prussia. There we store the cards
and envelopes and work filling the orders. Some of the cards are imprinted with customer's names and messages
and some are sold just with the pre-printed greeting. We then fill the orders by counting them out, boxing them and sending them
out to the customer. One staff member devotes her time during the season to our project, but the rest of
us are volunteers.
If you would like to volunteer with us, please go to "Contact" and notify us. We enjoy the work and enjoy working to help
cure cancer.

The following is our annual letter that is on our brochure:
Dear Friends,
Thanks to our loyal customers, friends and volunteers for contributing so much to the Holiday Card Program. Since our inception in
1987, we have given the American Cancer Society $2,128,256.00. This money not only supports the programs of education, advocacy,
and service, but also research. The American Cancer Society is the largest source of private, not-for-profit cancer research funds in the
United States, second only to the federal government in total dollars spent.
The American Cancer Society’s Research and Training Program has funded 42 Nobel Prize laureates since its inception in 1946, during
which time it has invested over $3.2 billion in cancer research, much of that focusing on the work of promising new investigators.
Currently, over $17 million in American Cancer Society Research Grants are supporting work at Philadelphia-area institutions.
Remember that when you purchase a card from the Holiday Card Program, you are giving twice, once to the American Cancer Society
for the wonderful work they do and once for your friends, family and business associates. The cards are available not only at the holiday
season, but all year long with choices of note cards, a celebration card for all occasions, the donor card for remembering a special
person, and always the Philadelphia scenes for notes, invitations or just as a gift.
The Women’s Board thanks the following for their generous donations to our Holiday Card Program:
.
- ANRO Inc., Devon, Pennsylvania for the printing of the cards and brochures.
- Pam Dooley, Gulph Mills, Pennsylvania, for the typography.
- Valerie Whipple Craig, St. Davids, Pennsylvania, for her original artwork.
- Frank Nolan, West Chester, Pennsylvania, for his help, interest, and continuing enthusiasm for this project.
- PARAGON PAPER, Inc., Sicklerville, New Jersey, for the paper used to produce the cards and the brochure
- Thomas Properties Group, L.P, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for office space.
Thank you so much for your continued support. |
